Online backup software for international customers
Tornova Backup is accessible worldwide. If you are outside India, you use the International pricing region: prices in US dollars, paid through PayPal. Backup data is stored in the United States on Microsoft Azure, the company is based in Bengaluru, India, and the website is available in English, German, Japanese and Russian. This guide explains how that works in practice and what to check for your own country before you choose, without making promises about local rules.
The short answer for customers outside India
- Product: cloud backup for Windows PCs (64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later, and Windows 11). macOS and Linux are future, not available.
- Pricing region: International, in US dollars. This is the default on the website. Prices are on Pricing and Trials; they are not quoted here because they can change.
- Payment: PayPal in the International region.
- Data location: backup data is stored in the United States on Microsoft Azure (Azure Blob Storage with zone-redundant storage), and the service is accessible worldwide.
- Company: Tornova Software Technologies, Bengaluru, India.
- Website languages: English, German, Japanese and Russian. The dashboard is in English.
How pricing and payment work
Tornova shows International prices in US dollars by default, and you pay through PayPal. There is also an India pricing region in Indian rupees, paid through Razorpay, described in Cloud backup in India. You choose the region yourself; it is never switched on the basis of your location, and your browser remembers the choice.
- Changing the website language does not change the currency.
- A subscription stays in the currency it was bought in. If your own currency is not the US dollar, your bank or PayPal may apply a currency conversion, so check the conversion terms with them.
- Plans are defined by storage (5, 10, 50 or 100 GB) and a duration. Monthly is always available and there is no annual commitment. For more than 100 GB, contact Tornova for a custom plan.
- Trials are low-cost, paid and do not renew automatically. There is one per customer, as your first purchase, and the data carries over if you choose a plan.
If a payment fails, there is a 7-day grace period before new backup is blocked, and existing backup data is not deleted just because a payment attempt failed. Tax and invoice handling depends on your country and purchase, so check the details at checkout.
Where your data is hosted, and why it matters
Tornova's primary infrastructure is in the United States on Microsoft Azure. Your files are stored in Azure Blob Storage with zone-redundant storage, which keeps data across separate availability zones within the Azure region. Tornova does not claim local data centres or offices in other countries.
Think about three practical questions:
- Is US hosting acceptable for what you back up? Some businesses, professions and clients have rules about where data may be held or sent. If you are subject to such rules, check before you buy. This guide is not legal advice.
- How fast will it be? Your first backup sends everything in your Backup Set over the internet to a US location. Speed depends on your upload bandwidth and distance. Start with the most important folders; later backups send only new and changed data.
- What protects the data? Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or later) and at rest in cloud storage, and storage is never publicly accessible. Client-side encryption is planned but not available. See Encrypted cloud backup explained.
Languages and support
The website can be read in English, German, Japanese and Russian. The account dashboard is in English, so you should be comfortable using English for day-to-day account management, even if you read the website pages in another language. Tornova does not publish a list of languages for support, so assume English.
For help, use the Support page and the FAQ, or write to support@tornovabackup.com. For general or business questions, write to contact@tornovabackup.com. Tornova does not publish support hours, and Bengaluru is on India Standard Time, so allow for the time difference when you expect a reply.
Time zones and schedules
Automatic Backup is managed from your account but run by the Windows app, which uses the device's local time zone. If you travel with a laptop, a schedule follows the clock of the device. If the PC is off or offline at the scheduled time, the missed run is recorded, not reported as a success, and follows the next eligible retry. See Automatic backup.
What to check for your country before you choose
- Data location. Are you comfortable, or allowed, to keep this data in the United States?
- Industry or client rules. Do contracts or professional rules restrict where you store client data? Ask a qualified adviser if unsure.
- Payment. Can you pay with PayPal, and what currency conversion applies?
- Language. Are you happy to use an English dashboard and support?
- Internet connection. Is your upload speed adequate for the size of your first backup? Use a trial to test.
- Requirements. Do your PCs run 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11?
- Restore. Have you tested restoring a real file?
The general buyer's checklist is in How to choose backup software, and What is cloud backup? explains the basics. If the answers fit, you can create an account and start with a trial.
For international businesses and teams
Organization accounts work the same way in every region: an Organization Admin, optional teams, users, shared or per-user storage and separate restore permissions. Each administrator and user signs in on the website and installs the Windows app on their PC. Read Cloud backup for a small business and the Organization guide for details.
