Cloud backup in India
If you are in India and want cloud backup for a Windows PC, Tornova Backup can show prices in Indian rupees and take payment through Razorpay. Tornova Software Technologies is based in Bengaluru, but backup data is stored in the United States on Microsoft Azure and the service is accessible worldwide. This guide explains how the India pricing region works, how payment works, what is stored where, and what to check before you choose, without assuming anything about your situation that we cannot know.
The short answer for users in India
- Product: cloud backup for Windows PCs. Windows 10 (version 1809 or later, 64-bit) and Windows 11. macOS and Linux are not available.
- Pricing: the website can show prices in Indian rupees (INR) when you choose the India pricing region. The prices are on the Pricing and Trials pages, and are not repeated here because they can change.
- Payment: in the India region, payment is taken through Razorpay.
- Company: Tornova Software Technologies, Bengaluru, India.
- Data location: backup data is stored in the United States on Microsoft Azure (Azure Blob Storage with zone-redundant storage). Tornova is accessible worldwide.
- Languages: the website is available in English, German, Japanese and Russian. The dashboard is in English. There is no Hindi or other Indian-language version today.
How the two pricing regions work
Tornova has two pricing regions: International, in US dollars paid through PayPal, and India, in Indian rupees paid through Razorpay. You choose the region yourself, using the India - INR option on the website. Tornova does not switch it for you based on where you are, and your browser remembers your choice.
- Changing the website language does not change the currency.
- A subscription stays in the currency it was bought in. If you buy in rupees, it stays a rupee subscription, and changing the region on the website later does not convert it.
- The catalog for each region is set separately, so do not assume that one region's price is a conversion of the other. Look at the prices shown to you.
Plans are defined by storage: 5, 10, 50 or 100 GB, then a duration. Monthly payment is always available and there is no annual commitment; 3-month, 6-month and 1-year durations are optional. For more than 100 GB, contact Tornova for a custom plan. There are no Basic, Plus or Pro tiers.
Trying it before committing
Tornova offers low-cost paid trials rather than a free tier. A trial does not renew automatically, and there is one trial per customer, as your first purchase. If you then choose a plan, your trial data carries over. The trial sizes and prices for India are on the Trials page.
A short trial is a good time to check the things that matter for your own connection: how long the first backup takes, whether your folders are covered, and that a restore works.
How payment works in the India region
When you buy in the India region, you pay in rupees through Razorpay, which is a separate payment provider. The payment options you see at checkout are provided by Razorpay and depend on your account and bank, so check the checkout page for what is offered.
Your subscription is managed from your Tornova account. If a payment fails, there is a 7-day grace period; during it backup may continue where storage remains, and existing backup data is not erased just because a payment attempt failed. For the details of billing, see the FAQ.
Where your data is stored, and what that means in practice
Being a company in Bengaluru does not mean that backups are stored in India. Tornova's primary infrastructure is in the United States, on Microsoft Azure, and the service is accessible from anywhere. Tornova does not claim local data centres or local offices in India.
That has practical consequences you can judge for yourself:
- Speed. Your first backup sends everything in your Backup Set over your internet connection to a US location. Upload speed and distance both matter, so start with a small, important Backup Set and add more later. Later backups send only new and changed data.
- Restore time. A large restore pulls data back over the same route.
- Rules about data location. If you work for a business, a regulated profession or a client with requirements about where data may be held, check that US hosting is acceptable before you buy. This is general information, not legal advice.
- Data in the cloud. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or later) and encrypted at rest. Client-side encryption is planned but not available. See Encrypted cloud backup explained.
Home users and small businesses in India
A Personal account suits one person: family photos, documents and work files across any number of Windows PCs, because the plan is defined by storage and not by the number of devices. The guide How much cloud backup storage do I need? helps you pick a size.
An Organization account suits a small business with several users: an administrator, optional teams, shared or per-user storage and separate control over who can restore. See Cloud backup for a small business and the Organization page.
On cost, the useful comparison is between the storage you need, the duration you want and the way you prefer to pay, not between headline numbers. The honest checklist in How to choose backup software covers it, and the figures themselves are on Pricing.
What to check before you choose
